I TACKETTS ENTERTAIN I Thursday evening at the home of Dr. Packard on Washington avenue Mr. and Mrs, Jack Tackett entertained the O. H. S. football boys and a host ( of young friends and classmates of this popular couple. Music, dancing, cards and delicious refreshments rounded out of the most enjoyable events of the season. Mrs. Tackett, who was Miss Rhea Packard, president presi-dent of the graduating class of '16, 0. H. S., is one of the most popular young ladies of Ogden's younger seL Her charming personality will be greatly missed by her numerous friends, as Mr. and Mrs. Tackett intend in-tend leaving soon to make their home in Nevada. Oliver Ellis and Harold Browning will depart next Tuesday for England, Eng-land, where they have been called to servo as missionaries for the Church of Jesus of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Monday night, a farewell social dancing party will be given in their honor ih the Second ward amusement hall, to which their friends are invited. Refreshments will be served and excellent music will be provided by the committee. MISS FISCHER IN RECITAL. Miss Mary Fischer, the popular Ogden Og-den viplinist, participated in a private pri-vate pupils' recital last night at the home of her instructor, Arthur Peder-son Peder-son Freber, in Salt Lake City. Her contribution to the program, which won much praise from a specially invited in-vited crowd of critical music lovers, was "Legends," by Wieniawski, a composition of many tecnnical Intricacies Intrica-cies and calling for intelligent interpretation. inter-pretation. FOR MISS MARY ABBOTT One of the very pretty and attractive attrac-tive social events of the week was the Kensington given by Mrs. James T. Abbott and Mrs. George L. Abbott at the home of the latter on Washington avenue. Large yellow chrysanthemums chrysanthe-mums were used in profusion, carrying carry-ing out a wonderfully pretty effect. Miss Frances Briscoe, daughter of (Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Briscoe, of West Ogden, departed last Thursday evening eve-ning for Coalville, Washington to make her homo for the next four years with an uncle, A. L. Rogers, a prominent prom-inent banker of Coalville. Miss Bris-coe Bris-coe will attend the high school and Conservatory of Music in that city. AT BAPTIST CHURCH PARLORS. The young people of the First Baptist Bap-tist church gathered in the church parlors par-lors Friday evening and enjoyed a very pleasant time together. There was not a dull momont from the time you entered until the last one had gone. The new features that were introduced in-troduced into the evening's entertainment entertain-ment proved to those present that the church can provide the very, best of social life without any questionable feature. Everyone enjoyed the delicious delici-ous refreshments which were served, AT PRESBYTERIAN PARLORS. Mrs. Jack Grix was the charming hostess to tho members of the Rem-bra Rem-bra club on Thursday afternoon at her homo on Lincoln avenue. The rooms were made beautiful with cut flowers. Eight games of 500 were played, honors hon-ors going to Mesdames Fred Planz, Vogel and Phil Planz who in turn presented pre-sented them to the bride elect who was present for her new home. A most delicious supper was served by the hostess. MIZPAH CLUB. Miss Eva Cragun, assisted by Miss Katherino Squires, entertained the Mizpah club at her home Friday evening eve-ning with four tables of 500 after which a delightful luncheon was serv; ed. Miss Vera Bltton will entertain Saturday of next week. HOME CULTURE CLUB The regular meeting of the Home Culture club was held at the home of Mrs. J. E. Beeson and proved to be one of the most pleasant meetings we have had. Mrs. Fitzgerald received Perry's "Wider Use of the School Plant" in a most efficient manner, showing how the school building and equipment can be used for the public good twelve hours a day instead of six and the benefits to be derived from tho maintenance of social centers, cen-ters, etc. It was a subject of deep Interest to everyone present and the discussion which followed led by Mrs. Moore was long and animated." Mrs. Hyrum Smith read selected paragraphs para-graphs from "Their Place in the Sun," by Elias Tobenkin, presenting another man's views on the great problem of national education. After some further furth-er discussion the club adjourned to meet in two weeks with Mrs. W. s Craven, 1544 Robinson avenue. CARD PARTY. Miss Mary Littlefield and Mrs. W. A. Turner entertained a large number of ladies at a card party yesterday at the Maids' and Matrons club rooms. Five hundred was played and honors were given to the best players after which a delicious luncheon was served. MRS. RICH TO ENTERTAIN. Mrs. Ezra Clark Rich will entertain the members of the Ladies' Literary club at her home on Washington avenue ave-nue next Wednesday afternoon, November No-vember 15. CHIL CULTURE CLUB The Child Culture club held a delightful de-lightful meeting at the Berthana last Thursday afternoon, November 9, with Mrs. Lester Corey and Mrs. George Glen as hostesses. The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed. A delightful literary lit-erary program and music was given and tempting refreshments served. CARD PARTY. The Lady Maccabees will entertain at a social card party next Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon, November 15, at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Weaver, 2825 Lincoln avenue, to which all are invited.. SILVER BEE CLUB Mrs. B. F.-vO'Brien entertained tho Silver Bee cluub Wednesday, a pleasant pleas-ant afternoon passed and a dainty luncheon was served to the mesdames Holland, Eggleston, Coppock, Kramer, Wilson, Calvert, Craze, Trolicht, Lightner, Pimlott, Vicks, Hopson, Had-lock, Had-lock, Danah and Hains. The club meets November 22 with Mrs. Hopson, 3040 Porter avenue. MOTORED SOUTH L. L. Hains and family motored to Provo Sunday to visit friends and relatives. LEAVE FOR COAST. Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Garrison departed de-parted today over the Southern Pacific Pa-cific railroad for San Francisco, where they will visit relatives. Later, they will proceed to Vlctorvllle, Cal., to make their home. Mrs. Garrison was formerly Miss Pearl Briggs. ELK'S DANCE. The local Elks gave their first dancing danc-ing party of the winter social season at their ball room last Wednesday evening, November 8, with a large number of the club members and their ladies being present.
