Show BOTILE FOUGHT - AilUEfiS Rome, April 14. A battle of the glaciers, gla-ciers, in which tho Italian troops have carried an entire Austrian position in the Adamello district, is reported in the official statement issued at the war offico tonight. In view of the tremendous natural difficulties overcome by the Italian troops, tho battle stands without precedent pre-cedent in tho fighting on the Austrian front It was fought in a terrible blizzard, bliz-zard, during which, in order to attack tho -Auatrlann, who were established on the rooky orags of Lobbla Alta, which juts out from the glaciers, the Italians had to make the perilous ascent as-cent of the mountain side. Thoy fln- ally came to grips with the Austrians on the projecting lodges of the mountain moun-tain at a height of about 3500 feet The fight lasted from Tuesday until late Wednesday, by which time tho Austrians had been driven entirely fiom their mountain nest leaving some prisoners in the hands of the Italians. The position was Immediately Immediate-ly fortified by the conquerors and -now forms a strong advance wedge in the Austrian front |
