Show (THE BIG DOUBLE PROGRAM 1 ROBERT WARWICK in SgggP" I 1 MARGUERITE COURTOT in 'THE DEAD ALIVE" I M j THE PHOTOPLAY CRITIC BRAVES THE STORM I H i AND IS REPAID H Some storm last night, and some H show at the Alhambra, I have been H under the Impression that there H wasn't much of anything worth while H "ceptin' " a few of the real big, noisy Hj hoys and girls in the movie world H c but I'm "off my trolley," and am H handing It to Manager Skinner for put- H ting over programs that are regular H bears and he doesn't have to stick H to the huge ones to do it. 1 Saw Robt Warwick in Sing Sing H prison again last night. He sure Iovcb H to get himself into that place and in H his picture thh? week, "The Supremo H Sacrifice," he deliberately allowB H himself to be "jugged" for four years just to shield a poor ministerial H friend who was fond of "chicken" and H went wrong. And it's a mighty fine B picture, but the one that made me H "sit up and take notice" was, "The H Dead Alive," in which Marguerite H Courtot plays the part of "Twin Sis- H ters." This little woman is a "22- Hl karat beauty," and as clever in her Hl "action" as anyone could ask for. Hl This "Dead Alive" picture is as mys Hj terious and strange as it's title end 1 concerns twins who come to the city to live with "poor old Dad" employ- 1 ed In a gambling house of which the H girls are in Ignorance. One girl se- H cures work in a department store H the other one realizes her .ambition H by "breaking into the chorus." Dad H is mixed up in a raid on the gambling H house in which there is evidently H "much blood spilled." The Big Gam-1 I COMING TOMORROW TWO DAYS ! JOHN BARRYMORE IN 1 ! He mar-: mar-: rles her, much to my surprise for these rich boys don't usually display much "real affection" for "poor working work-ing girls" in the movies. But you really couldn't blame him. She married mar-ried him without telling him of her father's disgrace or the existence of her "chorus girl sister." She was happy hap-py and graced the home like a regular regu-lar "top notcher," but look here Here we have that nasty gambler and hypnotist who "gets Vise" to conditions condi-tions and puts tho chorus girl "under his spell," and compells her to "mooch" money from her wealthy sister sis-ter under threats of exposing her family fam-ily record. That goes along o. k. until the married sister is accidentally accidental-ly drowned and hubby prostrated with grief. Then the "Big Crook" gets acquainted ac-quainted with the rich boy and proceeds pro-ceeds to "put over" a new one. Ho is going to act as a "medium" and produce pro-duce his dead wife from the spirit world. Does he do it? You bet ho did and you want to see how he "juggled this act," and what "sort or punishment" fell on this crook and how. It's there, at the Alhambra to I night.
