Show GO BACK TO PARRAL. Our expedition in to Mexico was for the purpose of impressing on the lawless Mexicans in particular, and the people in general, the power of the "United States to punish raiders, Since the Parral incident, all northern north-ern Mexico has heard that the Americans Ameri-cans attacked an unarmed body of peaceful inhabitants and were driven out and routed by Carranza troops This story will continue to circulate and at last prove an incentive for other oth-er crimes against Americans, unless our government insists on giving the Mexicans a further demonstration of the ability of the United States to strike a stinging blow. Should our troops be recalled tomorrow, tomor-row, all of northern Mexico would accept ac-cept the withdrawal as an act of cowardice, inspired by fear of the regular reg-ular Carran7a soldiers, and a month would not pass before other organized organiz-ed outrages were perpetrated against our border towns. Our troops are now at Satovo, a few miles north of Parral. They should be ordered to proceed to Parral and ride through the streets of that Mexican Mexi-can town, prepared to open fire at the first overt act of hostility and to push an attack to the utmost, if the Carranza Car-ranza garrison dared to attempt to repeat the treachery of a week ago. oo |
