Show CITY COMPROMISES DAMAGE SUIT FOR $2150 Acting upon the suggestion of City Attorney Valentine Gideon, tho city board of commissioners last bYtining compromised the personal injury suit of Myrtle Spaulding .against the city nnd ordered the city auditor to issue a warrant in faor of Miss Spaulding in the sum of $2150. In the district court. Miss Spaulding was awarded $2750 by a jury as damages dam-ages for certain injuries which she sustained by stepping into an open trench on Twenty-fifth street, in the vicinity of Madison avenue, where the city was digging a sewer trench. A new trial was granted by the court, however, but Attorney Gideon advised the commissioners that, in nis judg ment, the result of a new trial likely would not reduce the danages below the amount which M16S Spaulding was willing to accept in settlement The street superintendent reported the expenditure of $1235.57 on the streets last month, most of which was for clearing the streets of snow and ice and keeping the gutters open at intersections. The report was placed on file. The petition of messengers asking that they be permitted to pay their licenses quarterly, rather1 than annually, an-nually, was granted. Claims of the J. P.
