Show oo EVERS IS SERIOUSLY ILL OF PNEUMONIA New York, Dec. 10. John Evers, captain of the pennant-winning Boston Bos-ton Braves, is dangerously ill at th Hotel Somerset here Kurly today his illness was diagnosed as pneumonia and two doctors and two trained nurses are now in constant attendance attend-ance upon him, while Mrs. Evers has been summoned from Chicago by tele graph and is now on her way to his Ledside. The doctors were evidently sure of I Evers' recovery, provided he could be kept in bed. He is a nervous invalid, and the increased seriousness ot his illness is attributed to the fact that last night te disobeyed the doctors' order;- and Insisted on getting out o' bed ard sitting up in his room. It is expected that the presence of Mrs. Evers may make him less restless and more inclined to follow the treatment outlined by the physicians and nurses. President Gaffney of the Braver said tonight: "The doctor told me this afternoon that only one of Johnny's lungs is affected. He said with care Evers oucht to come out of it all righL Evers caught a cold during the blizzard bliz-zard on the opening day of the Na tional league meeting and tried to keep going long after he should have been in bed." |
