After a week of sensational developments In connection con-nection with the Ulster situation, the House of Commons today started tho debate on the second reading of the home rule for Ireland bill. It Is expected ex-pected the measure will occupy tho house for at leaBt three days. The absence of Mr. Asqulth, who was in charge of the bill, was bitterly bit-terly complained of by the Unionists. It is reported from Dublin that Pre-mior Pre-mior Asquith is to be opposed In the bye-election for East Fife by James Larklnj who, as head of the Transport Trans-port Workers union, was leader of the strike in Dublin last autumn. In connection with the strike, Mr. Lar-kin Lar-kin was sentenced to seven months imprisonment in October for inciting to riot, but was later released. Viscount Morley of Blackburn, lord president of the council, today abandoned aban-doned his intention ot resigning from the cabinet, intimated in the House of Lords yesterday. The cabinet mot today and the strongest pressure was brought to bear on Lord Morley not to add to the difficulties of his colleagues by giving up his office. When the House' of Lords met later in the day. Lord Morely announced to the members that he had not quit the cabinet. |
