Show NEW GOLD DISTRICT OPENING IK NEVADA; Winneraucca, Nev., April 2. Some sixteen years ago the Choato brothers entered the King's river district, finding find-ing liberal evidence of native gold In the gravels. This discovery of gold prompted them to pitch their tents and ever since have been working work-ing amidst those gold laden gravel beds. Dr. W. F. Boylan returned Friday from a trip to the district in northern north-ern Humboldt, where he had been looking after his mining interests. He says: "The King's river mining district is located among the mountains of northern Humboldt county in what might be called the foothills of Disaster Dis-aster peak. Disaster peak is so called call-ed from one of the early day tragedies, trage-dies, a massacre of whites by Indians having taken place beneath the towering tow-ering peak. "Until a year ago very little was known of this section. At that time a number of Natlonalltes had their attention called to rich gold ore exhibited ex-hibited at National by a prospector named White. Questions elicited the fact that he had secured these rich specimens about thirty-five miles west of National in the neighborhood of Disaster peak. "Since that time the district has been examined by a number of well-known well-known mining men, who pronounce it one of the best and most opportune undeveloped gold-silver sections of Nevada. "The district, as far as determined, shows an excellent vein system car- rying gold and silver values for about olght miles long and from three to four miles wide. The section within with-in which these gold veins are found is a porphyritic granite belt The veins are well defined and strong, and wherever prospected return values val-ues of from ?6 to as high as $5000 per ton. The average value gives the ore a high-class inilling base and with the Introduction of reduction plants coincident with proper development develop-ment gives the assurance of substantial substan-tial profit for owners and investors. Plenty of Water. "There is ample water for milling and domestic uses. The camp is eighty miles north of Winnemuca and can be reached over good roads In five hours by automobile. "The following parties are interested interest-ed in the camp at present: The Choate brothers have the most adi vanced work and are extracting values val-ues from the Union group and have fine showings on the Ed. Gold Hill and Cleveland groups. "Al Hart and myself have done some work on the Gold Link and Big Sandy, exposing veins carrying encouraging en-couraging gold values. Associated with a fissure on the Big Sandy is a laminated or stirated porphyry dike which shows gold pannlngs for eighty feet across. On the Gold Link we have proven a vein four feet wide, which, from sampling, shows gold content from $10 to $160 per ton. "Other locators in the district are Ed Deardorff, William Clough and Dr. Bullman, Vern Crossen and Leo Walsh. Verne Johnson, A. H. Dickson Dick-son and Ernest Brown. Leland and Leonard Simpson also have a group of claims upon which considerable work has been done showing a large body of free milling ore. "Ralph Peckham and w. s. Pearl are the fortunate locators of two claims that are an evidence . of the mineralization of the district "Mrs. Cora Davis has located a placer claim and is personally on the ground directing the work. "Mining men and prospectors are dally going into .the district." nn . |
