Show EAST INDIAN CALLS ON BRYAN Washington, Aug f. Gaginnat Khanna, an East Indian, called on Secretary Bryan yesterday to express ex-press his thanks for the secretary's part In directing his life work. Khan na has Just been graduated as an electrical engineer. He is returning to India to practice his profession for which he believes there is a wide field in his comparatively undeveloped undevel-oped country. Khanna was impelled to o.me here after he had listened to an address by Mr Bryan six yesrs ago. when the latter was making a tour of the world. Mr Bryan spoke to the students stu-dents of a mission school at Allaha bad and in the course of his short talk urged tbe students to complete their education in American techni cal schools. Half a dozen of them followed Mr. Bryan's advices, among tbem Khanna Mr. Bryan's isitor told him be did not expect to obtain employment in the Indian civil service, because of the prejudice which, he said, was entertained against natives educated In the l'nlted States This prejudice, he said, was based en the suspicion that such educjtion was too liberal and threatened the stability of the empire lie expressed the opinion, however that he v ould have no dif ficulty in establishing himself in private practice in his own country. |
