Show oo WARNING SENT BY SCHOOL BOARD To warn parents of school children against those canvassers who try to sell goods by stating that the articles for sale are recommended by the board of education, the following no tice lias been SL-nt out by the board "Occasionally there are canvassers In this city who deceive parents Into In-to purchasing their goods by telling them that these things are demanded by the board of education or the si periutendent of schools "A number of complaints have recently re-cently come to this office to the effect ef-fect that some people selling sewing machines are making parents believe that their kind of machine is an ab solute necessity as the pupils are tak Ing work that 'demanded that particular particu-lar machine It Is onl necessary to aay that there Is no truth In H " statements; neither the board of education edu-cation nor the superintendent of. schools Is interested in any particular make of sewing machine and such, disreputable methods on the part of agents should be resented. "Two years ago a man who had Canvassed and actually sold n carload car-load of books in this city and was already to delhor Miem when these same urgent appeals were made to parents, A notice was put In each of the Ogden papers which stopped the delivery of those books He felt that these notices in the papers had 'ruined him. as he was unable to deliver de-liver his books lie had a number of people working for three or four months and now was already to reap his harvest He tried hard to have me offset the 'Injury' by another article, arti-cle, which of course.
