The latest arrivals at the military ramp on th old bay district camp are all comfortably quartered, though Utah and Wyoming are somewhat abort of tents. Wyoming has the promise of the government that its solitary battalion shall not be pul in to fill up a regiment, but will go into service as su lode pendent battalion. It baa an assurance, also, that it and the Utah bat- teriea will be Sent away together about the first of June. Idaho and Kansas are the two camps that lack equipment. Idaho has only three coin pan i a uniformed, and until the'arrival of uniforms there will not The Idaho men are be much drilling new to tha manual, but the fighting spirit is all there When a rumor arrived that, all unequipped as they are, they were to sail for Manila at once the camp was audibly glad. "1 hats good news, grinned a big private, the sooner the better. The sandy ground on which the camp is situated U too soft for drilling purposes The Utah batteries are jinabk as yet to use their guns, and the carriages are sunk deep in the sand. Tha present week will be given almost eatirely to th continuation of tbe debate on .the war revenue bill, and many of th Vest informed senators express the opinion that the consideration of the bill will be concluded before the end of tbe week. While the consideration of the bill, except aa to objected feature, haa been completed, there ia still much to be done before the bill can be said to be completed. Th item which have been passed over are those which it waa expected from the beginning would consume the greatest umouot of time. These Include the corporation tax provision, the inheritance tax, the silver seigniorage and greenback amendments, and also others of more or leas importance. Involved in the discussion of the greenback and seigniorage amendments will be the Republican proposition to restore the bond provision, and there can be no doubt that this question will give rise to a discussion that will cover considerable time, probably two or three days at least. There is, however, no apparent dcaire on the part of the opponents of bonds to consume more time than is necessary to the proper presentation of their views. During the present week the Hawaiian annexation resolutions are likely to be considered in the house. No positive assarenoe baa been given that a special rule providing for their consideration will be reported, but it ia gen erally understood that in event of the PHILIPPINE REVENUES. revenue bill being well advanced in the senate, the committee on rules will Custom Duties A re to bo CoUoetod by th respond to the majority demand in the Military. house for the Immediate dlspdsiiion of 34.
