british sailors rescue women and T new york nor ac seven persons were rescued from the hudson river by the sailors atthe cruiser essex of tho british squadron yesterday the was composed of clarence B harrison a lawyer his wife and three children mr imarri sons two sister katherine aad three men business associates socia tes of ar mr harrises chartered the yacht for the day and made up a party to visit the war vessels when opposite fiftieth street the skirt of one of mr harrisons Harria ons daughters caught fast in the sheets captain rainier had to bring his boat oft the wind and in doing so the little craft jibed and almost capsized As the big boom swung about it struck and knocked all of the party except the captain and two other men into tho water captain rainier acted like a flash he tied a rope to an air tight barrel and throw it among the persons in the river mr harrison and chauncey lucas helped the children and women keep above the water and succeeded in getting all of them to the barrel lying in the lea of the essex a short distance off was one of its steam launches half a dozen blue jackets saw the plight of the harrison family and sprang into the launch and had it under way in a few seconds when rescue was almost at hand mrs harrison and her children lost choir hold on the barrel two of the british blue jackets plunged into the river and with a few strokes reached them they supported mrs harrison and glicr children until the barrel could be pushed to them by this time tho others had been taken aboard the launch and it was only the work of u minute to pull mrs harrison and the children out of the water the sailors refused to give kneir names and started immediately for their ship
