Show A fp W rl TAYLOR TO GRADE FOUR MILES OF ROAD ships teams and workmen to salt lake this evening to commence work from thursday standard the oregon short une railroad la to construct a four mils cutoff cut off on their line starting at fourth west and ninth south and running four miles to the station of buena vista where it will connect with the main road W H taylor an ogden contractor has secured the contract for the grading that la to be done and tonight will ship grading tools twenty eight teams and thirty men to salt lake the work will begin on monday and mr taylor expects that he will complete the grading in about eight weeks the contract was awarded yesterday and last night mr taylor withdrew his men from the work on the sand ridge cutoff cut off and today they are getting things in readiness to ship to the scene of their new work when the cutoff cut off Is completed the railroad company expects to lessen the time to Salta lr and also increase their service although it was not stated Is quite generally understood that a new station Is 10 bs erected in salt lake and that other improvements will be made that will greatly improve the road it Is mr taylors intention as soon as he has the grading work well under way to increase his force greatly as he has other work in view that demands that he complete his present contract as soon as possible HEAT IS SCORCHING was 93 degrees in the shade at noon while yesterday was hot today Is even hotter although there Is a breeze blowing that greatly ameliorated ameliorates today Is the hottest day of the season the thermometer registering 90 degrees at 9 this morning while at noon it had gone to 93 with every promise of rising during the afternoon and breaking the record on tuesday of this week the thermometer mo meter with the exception of the early morning hours almost stationary and it was the same at midnight as at 9 p m during the last 24 hours the thermometer has ranged from 75 degrees at midnight last night the lowmark to 93 degrees at noon today high mark today clouds heavily laden are flitting across the sky and encouraging the hope that the promise of rain that they presage will not prove false for a sweltering humanity would certainly appreciate a brisk shower even though it lasted but a few minutes |
