Show RESTAURANT RAIDED BY POLICE Chief of Police W. I. Norton and a lorco of detectives and patrolmen raided a Greek restaurant conducted by Harry Gavros at 112 Twenty-fifth street, last night, and seized a stock of liquors valued at $1,500. Tho liquor was concealed In the basement base-ment of the establishment and included in-cluded three barrels of bottled beer, fifteen barrels of wine and whiskey, ono keg of draft beer and three and one-half cases of brandy. Gavros is the man who was arrested ar-rested last week for selling liquor without a license, the arrest being made by two detectives who caught him In the act of supplying two customers cus-tomers with beer For iMs offense Gavro3 deposited $50 ball and the same was later forfeited on his nonappearance non-appearance in court Gavros formerly conducted a saloon but lost his licence through the new ruling of tho courts and has since been running a rooming house and restaurant Tho liquor which was seized yesterday yes-terday is now stored In tho city building, awaiting action on the part of tho owner If ho does not appear within fifteen days and prove his innoncencc of violating the new law by having the liquor in his possession., posses-sion., the stock will be pronounced, confiscated and will be destroyed. |
