Show MIPM I3MIf ATP The interior o ftb,o Weber acadomy presented a weird spectacle last evening even-ing when the entire building war, utilized uti-lized for tho high jink3 of the goblins, gob-lins, which were joined in by over 00 merrymakers and the spirit of the IJallowe'en season reigned supreme. The "doings" smarted at 7 p. in. and in the darkened corners on the lower floor the curjosity seekers were entertained en-tertained by ghosts, goblins and fiery red imps In a mo3t uncanny manner. At 9 p m. in the scrai-darkneso of the big ball room, the rlamcing commenced. com-menced. The largo crowd of dancers many of them In costume, mingling in the soft glow of numerous Jack-o -lanterns, made a kaleidoscopic picture. Imitation black cats and yellow devils dev-ils on a background of black cloth added weirdness to the scene, and many bats, susponded on strings stretched across the balcony, had an almost life-like appearance, in a black tepee In the middle of the pint-form pint-form at the north end of tho hall a fortune teller held sway and at the ends of the platform delicious homemade home-made candie eand punch were dispensed. dis-pensed. A chile con carnc booth over the cntranco of which was hung a cluster of varl-colored Incandescent lights, found much far. This booth was especially well decorated and a largo fireplace In one corner sent forth a bright, red glow which displaj -ed the interior features with fine effect. ef-fect. Only the "nervy" guests ventured ven-tured into the cozy corners, foi In their depths skeletons, ghosts and goblins lurked and the Imps of Satan were close by. A devil dance around a huge cauldron caul-dron of burning chemicals occurred about n p m and was a most grotesque gro-tesque feature. The programs were distinctly ip keeping with the other features. The music was furnished by an eight-piece eight-piece orchestra. The first year girls were awarded a set of hooks for having the most artistic ar-tistic booth The judges were Miss Clara Brown, Mrs. Etta Cowles. Miss Zlna Larkiq and Mrs. Jda Shurtllff. The party- was; given under the auspices aus-pices of the domestic science and arts girls and its. success was highly complimentary com-plimentary to their ability to entertain. |
