White, manager of tho Utah Fruit Exchange, haa returned from Omaha, "where he spent tho peach-gathoring season aiding tho marketing of the crop and he la not very well pleased with the roBUltB. Mr. White states that tho Utah crop was not an good in quality as in other years, due largely to the cold, damp BeaBon. hall and wind and other climatic conditions. Besides this, he sa3'B, thero wao an overproduction of peachco throughout the United States and tho market was so glutted that the Utah men wore lucky to sell their peache3 at any price. All shipments hare been placed on the eastern market bnt complete ot- tiements havo not been had and the result cannot be definitely stated. It I Is safe to say. however, that the re- turns will not be encouraging. 1 Mr. White 6ays that the Exchange shippod two earn of apples Saturday and that shipments will continue this woek. The apple crop, ho says, seems to be in fairly good condition and he is in hopes of a fairly good market. The wind has done but very little damages to the apple crop in most scctiona of the state, there being some localities, of course, whero many apples were blown to the ground and bmlsod. |
