Show B0Y CRIES IN COURT WHEN QUESTIONED Paul Peterson, an lS-year-old boy. was given a sentence of six months in the city Jail aftcr pleading guilty to me charge or petit larcony. Peterson, together with Enon Ard, 17 years old, broke Into a room in : Greek lodging houso and stole several articles to the value of 20 as well as a suit or clothes. When arrested ho told the officcrd that he had bought the articles with tho last 5 he possessed, pos-sessed, but later he confessed to taking tak-ing them and went with tho officers to recover the goods. In police court this morning he said thnt his home was near Salt Lake, where his pn rents hae a farm. lit explained thnt he was In Ogden foi the purpose of meeting his brothei from Pocatello, but the brother did not show up. He told the court that ho never would have robbed the room of a lodger in the houso had not given giv-en him n key to get Into the room. According to his story, this lodger told him to go into the room and help himself, but the officers do not tnkt stock in the tale. fudge W. H. Reodcr gave him r fatherly lecture, explaining to the bo just what would happen it he kept on the same path. The mpaning of prison pris-on life was explained to hfm and ho was told that now is the only time to reform. When the judge reminded him of tho fact that his father and mother must be suffering because of his disgrace, dis-grace, the boy cried and brushed awa. the tears with his cap. Judge Rccdcr expressed the wish that the six months sentence would teach him a lesson. Enos Ard. the other bov in the case is under age and will be dealt with bv the juvenile authorities. |
