Show SKEEN HIGH MAN AT VENICE County Commissioner Moroni Skeen in the past few days placed Ogden high above competitors in the trap bird shoot at Venice. California, which is given under the auspices of the Los Angeles gun club, one of the largest and most Influential trap shooting aggregations ag-gregations in tho United States Mr. Skeen has made exceptionally high marks sinco he began his career as a blue rock shooter, each event of importance placing him higher in his class. Not long ago he broke 99 birds out of a possible 100 and, it Is said be struck the last bird. Ho entered the three-day shooting tournament at Venice, which began May 9, and word came today that he tied for high average, meaning that his average in a shoot for 600 birds was second to none. Ties in cases of this kind arc not shot off, but the stakes are divided between tho two high shots. To do this, W. H. Anderson Ander-son of the Ogden Gun Club, of which Mr Skeen Is a member, says Skeen's percentage muBt have run as high as 9S, an average of 9S birds in a hundred, hun-dred, there being only two misses in the last 120 shots. Mr. Anderson received the following telegram this morning: "At the big shoot here, In which 150 shooters from all parts of the United States contested for tho big prizes, there were some of the best shots in the country. I tied for high average. To do this I had to make my last 120 with two misses. (Signed) "MORONI SKEEN." |
