The offonso is declared to have been ono of the most pronounced violations of the white slavo law callod to the attention of the United States marshal in months. S L. depot In Salt Lake From, Thomas and Conshafter were taken before United States Commissioner Charles Baldwin. Bonds were fixed at $400 in each count, making the aggregate amount $1,000 for each defendant Early last evening Deputy United States Marshal Julian Riley took Conductor Froun to tho house of Commissioner Baldwin, Bald-win, whero he furnished bonds, but tho others were forced to remain In Jail. Late Monday night, January 22, tbo Murdock girl Ig alleged to havo stolen from ono of the attendants a key leading to the main entrance of tho Industrial school In Ogdon During tho night the Murdock girl and Clara Blddle. Ella Prlco and Lizzie Hnlcomb Hnl-comb made plans for tho escape, the details of which wore carriod out successfully suc-cessfully shortly after 7 o'clock on the morning of January 23. Without being interrupted tho industrial in-dustrial school girls walked to North Ogden, where it is declared by Leonora Leo-nora Murdock they succeeded in persuading per-suading two young farmers to carry them in a wagon as far as Wlllard City. They did not divulge that they had escaped from the industrial school. At the railroad yards at Wlllard City Leonora Murdock and Clara Blddle declare that their attentions wero so- shafter. Tbey said they told the railroad rail-road mon they had escaped from tbo industrial school. Tho railroad mon aro alloged to have Induced them to crawl into a box car and accompany them on thoir Journey to Pocatollo At Cache Junction they are said to have been transferred to another boxcar box-car and finally to the caboose of tho freight train, where they rcmaiuod until their arrival In Pocatollo. Thoy were held prisoners thore, declaro tho girls, until the freight train was made up to return to Salt Lako, when they again were placod In box care, which were carefully guarded as tho freight train passed through Ogden on tho afternoon of January 25. They wero led from the freight train upon Its arrival In Salt Lako and taken tak-en to rooming houses. Leonora Murdock Mur-dock and Clara Biddlo wont to tho Leslie rooming house, where thoy wore taken Into custody Friday morning morn-ing Ella Price and LJzzio Halcomb wero taken to the Royal lodging houBo, whore they passed the night, disappearing disap-pearing oarly Friday morning.
