Hunter of the steamer Northwest of an apparent change in the Japanese current encountered between Capo Flattery and Cape St Ellas. "On our last trip I noticed tho Alameda Ala-meda was set about fortv miles ahead of our Jog." said Captain Johnson of the Alameda, according to cable advices. ad-vices. "Mthough I considered this strange, I thought some mistake might havo been mado in the log or in navigation, bul careful observations observa-tions wero made on this voyage and they corresponded very closely to the former observations. Tho first change was noticed off the Queen Charlotte Islands, and the northward sot of the current increased in, strength steadily stead-ily thereafter. "Another change in the action of the set which I have noticqd all this winter has been heavy swells from the southwest. "The log of tho Alameda shows a change lu the temperature of the water, which is from four to fhe de greos warmer than any other time this winter." |
