P O'Neill of the O Nclll Construction company Ig busy today getting ready to pitch camp In the vicinity of the dam site on the South Fork of Ogden rlref, where the surface sur-face will be stripped to bed rock as a preparatory stop toward the erection of a huge dam fo the storing of water that nerctoioro nas xounu us way u the Great Salt lake. Mr O'Neill states that by tomorrow evening he will have a force of men ou tho ground and that within a few hours after the arrival of the men a tented cltv will bo in evidence and that, on Thursday morning, dirt will be flylns from the river bed. There will be no. letup In the work, the contractor con-tractor says, and within thirty days' time it is possible that the people may be able to look upon the burrock bur-rock upon -which, the dam is to be' erected. Tho contracting company has on hand large derricks which will be hauled to tho camp today and tomor-iow, tomor-iow, but It Is said by Mr. O'Neill, that the heaviest machinery for hoisting hoist-ing will not be required on the job, unless largo boulders aro encountered beneath the surface. The bedrock will be uncovered across tho channel at least fifteen feet wide and twenty feet deep Mr. Bostaph has made a careful ox-auiinalion ox-auiinalion of tho situation and he la confident that bedrock will bo encountered encoun-tered within twenty feet of tho snr face, and, he anticipates that It will bq a bed rock that will bo as firm as the rock of Glbrnltar. |
