Show ALLOTMENTS' ON MONTE CRISTO Acting District Forestor A. C. McJ Cain states that the meeting of stock-mon stock-mon and tho foresters of this district next Monday promises a large gathering. gath-ering. Many appliactions have been made for graxing privileges on tho Monte Cristo addition to the Cache national na-tional forest All stock raisers of Ogden, including includ-ing sheep raisers and cattle and horseman, horse-man, are interested in tho meeting, it being the flrbt for the consideration of allotments for grazing on the now section which has been, recently included in-cluded in the Cache forest, and which will horeafter bo controlled under tho rules and regulations of tho national forest service. Tho country embraces a large part of tho Ogden river watershed, extending extend-ing northerly toward the Bear rlvor country. This country has always been open country for grazing, and, ns a result, the range is overstocked to the point that best results aro not being be-ing obtained. District Forester E. A. Sherman will return from Idaho tomorrow and he will attend tho mcotlng Mr. McCain of the operating dopartment and Homer Ho-mer Fenn of the grazing department of the forest service will also be in attendance at-tendance In reducing the number of stock on the reserve, It has been the olicy of the forestry department noc to encroach on the llttlo man but rather to reduce tho big fellow's hords. This rulo will bo followed In this Instance. Stockmen of Brlgham City and the Huntsvllle country are Interested in the Monte Cristo range and many of them will attend the meeting Monday. Mon-day. Most of the Cacho Valley people peo-ple ranae their stock farther north than the Monte Christo country so that they aro not particularly interested inter-ested in the new reservo |
