Although tho stock market early in tho day was affected unfavorably by the heaviness of some of the leading issues, especially espec-ially U. S. Steel and the Hill shares, it displayed considerable underlying strength and quotations stiffened after af-ter the selling orders had been cleared clear-ed up. Heaviness of the Hill stocks presumably pre-sumably was due to profit-taking and those Bhares rose briskly when pressure pres-sure from this source was removed. Bull operations were concentrated to a large extent in Reading, which rose to 15S 1-4, thereby making up moro than its dividend of 1 1-2, which came off the price today. Western issues were in moderate demand. Union Un-ion Pacific sold a point above its earlier earl-ier low level. Bonds were steady. OGDEN WHOLESALE PRODUCE (Selling Price.) Ogden. Utah, Jan. 23.
