Show j , , f LABOR RIOTS ELSEWHERE. !Salt Lake has had two serious labor riots growing out of the railroad strike. The disorders of yesterday resulted in one man being seriously -wounded. This is the second shooting in that city caused by the shopmen's strike. We mention this to call attention to a libel on Ogden -which H j. i v has been circulated cast and -west, to the effect that Ogden has been K ' the worst point on the Harriman system in strike disorders. - JTocatello has had its riot, Cheyenne has had its outbreaks, and H Half n dozen other railroad towns have had riots. Not one out- H' break, beyond personal encounters of minor importance, has oe- B' cirrrcd in this city since the beginning of the strike. H It is about time for those who are fault finding and picking B flaws in Ogden 's conduct to look elsewhere for their material for H slander. H To the credit of the strikers in Ogden, nearly every one of Hi I whom is a home-mau, a home builder and a worthy citizen of this Bl ' - community, it must be said that the local men have deported them- H "selves in a most creditable manner. A few have allowed their loy- H , alty to the unions to lead them into overt acts of resentment di- H y' 'rected against those who have taken the places of union workmen, B '.but the great body of the mon have conducted themselves in a H .manner above reproach. H , And this law-abiding, self-restraint must redound to the good H ( ' of Ogden, however the strike may be settled, as it demonstrates that H Ogden is a safe community in which to build shops or other rail- H . froad labor-employing institutions. |
