Show They Send Out Circulars Circu-lars Giving Details - of Grievances Kansas City, Sept 18. Circular letters, let-ters, giving greater detail to the dispute dis-pute on the Harriman lines are being sent to nil members of the blacksmiths', black-smiths', lioilormakers' and mach.nlsls' unions. These letters are signed E. L. Regain, president of the federated organizations, and aro mailed in San Francisco, The federation objects to the criticism of its apprentice system sys-tem and explains that it became necessary nec-essary to establish the present system sys-tem on account Qf the abuses that had been practiced by various employers. The unions contend that employes should not be subject to physlclal examination, ex-amination, but that the foreman should be left to Judge the ability of his men to do their wark. The unions alsc ask for a better hospital system, and thoy contend that railroads should pay more money and keep the institutions ic better condition. The pension system, employed by tne Harriman lines Is little more than a farce, according to the federation federa-tion officials. |
