Show UKJ FUNK B. (MAN'S SUDDENJEATII Salt Lake, Feb. 16 Frank Gawan, general superintendent for P. J. Mo-ran, Mo-ran, contractor; civil engineer and for years one of the most active figures fig-ures in the actual development work of this community, died at his home, ICi South N'inth East street, yesterday yester-day afternoon at 4 30 o'clock. Pneumonia Pneu-monia was the cause of death, which cut short at tho age of 3S years a successful caroor of still greater promise and achievement. The end came unexpectedly, with scant warning, warn-ing, and cast a pall of sorrow over Mr. Gawan's wide circle of associates and friends. Recently Mr. Gawan had not ap-pearod ap-pearod to be In the best of hoalth, but those who knew him attributed It to exhaustion from an exceptionally strenuous life and tho great demands made upon his energy. He went about his work conscientiously and uncomplainingly. As late as last Tuosdav ho associated with relatives and friends pleasantly appearing in good spirits. That evening ho was tnken ill. Wednesday night pneumonia pneu-monia developed and his condition lecnmo so critical that threo physicians physi-cians were called to the suffering man's side. Every moans known to modern medical science wns resorted resort-ed to In an effort to restore him, but without avail. His condition grew steadily worse until 4:30 o'clock yesterday yes-terday afternoon, when death came. Mr. Gawan is survived by his. widow, wid-ow, Mrs. Emmazlna Plaver Gawan; his mother, Mrs. J. B. Watson; four children, one sister and one brotiior, all of this city. Ho was a respectod momber of the local lodge of Elks, of the local organlxatlon of Woodmen of the World, of the Alta Hub, and was u dlroctor of the Portland Cement Ce-ment company of Utah.
