Telegraphic Tele-graphic warrants were Issued today for tho arrest of IS business men, prominent in afTalrs In Alaska, and the Pacific coast, on four indictments returned by the grand Jury that has been investigating the alleged violation vio-lation of the Sherman antl-tmst law the control of the wharf facilities at Skagway. The following were indicted: J. C. Ford, president of the Pacific Coast Steamship company: C E. Houston, head of the Pacific Coast Coal company; A. L. Berdoe, formerly former-ly vice president and general manager man-ager of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad company; Charles E. Pea-body, Pea-body, formerly an official of the Alaska Alas-ka Steamship company; John H. Bunch, traffic manager of the Alaska Steamship company; E. E. Ward, traffic manager of the Pacific- Coast Steambhip company: G. D. Wurzbach-er, Wurzbach-er, C. K. Wynn Johnson, E. E. Bil-llnghurst, Bil-llnghurst, W. H. Manscn, Ira Brown-son, Brown-son, J. W. Smith, F. J. Cushlns, W-N. W-N. King, V. I. Harm and G. H. Hig-bee. Hig-bee. The grand jury investigation was begun three weeks ago by DJstrlct Attorney Rustgard on orders received from Attorney General Wickersham. Tho grand jury began to return indictments in-dictments thme days ago but these were held Fecret until today when they were placed on file and tolo-graphic tolo-graphic warrants issued. Mr. Kalish Is now in San Francisco. is charged in the Indictment that tho North Pacific Wharves and Trading company, tbo Pacific & Arctic Railway Rail-way and Navigation company, the Pacific Pa-cific Coast Coal company and the Canadian, Pacific Railway company (formed a combination in restraint of trade and In violation of the Sherman Sher-man anti-trust law to monopolize the transportation facilities at Skagway, tho ocean terminus of the White Pass and Yukon railroad and principal seaport sea-port of Alaska. |
