Show LuriuLdi Walk Its juet a llttlo stroll around the world for Julius Rath, the former SU Louls newsboy who arrived in Ogden yesterday evening from Salt Lake City and who has up to date walked more than 4S0.000 miles. He doe3 not expect to stop walking until he has covered fiOO.000 miles which will be about three years hence Ruth has already walked a distance equal to a journey to the moon and back and before he concludes his hike he will tnko a little jaunt to New York, thence to Florida and Cuba and from there will go to Europe, where walking is also said to be good. "When he has walked around Europe a few times ho will walk back to Amorica and walk from New York via tho Panama Canal to the Panama-Pacific Panama-Pacific exposition in San Francisco whore ho is to receive $30,000 from the St. Louis club. Thereafter he will use street cars, the Southern Pacific and other modes of travel which are considered more convenient conven-ient than hoofing It. Since Rath walked out of St. Louis in 1897 he has worn out 435 pairs of shoes and he is not advertising any particular brand. He has not been allowed to work, beg, borrow or steal and when he finishes his half million miles of pedestrlanlsm, he' must have $1,000 in cash. On hia way around the world ho has boon collecting the signatures of noted persons and officials and send- ing them to tho board of education In Washington, D. C. He secured the sLgnaturo of Queen Victoria, during her reign In England, and also that of the late King Edward. Whilo in Salt Lake he secured the autograph of Governor William Spry and ho will add to his list of signatures by securing se-curing some of tho notables of this city. With Rath v,-alks a dog, the animal which Is with him at the present time being one he secured In Alaska. It Is wolihound and huekle. It is the fifth animal which Rath has hnd with him during his walk, the others having hav-ing all died. Rath will tell of his trip at the Lyceum theater Friday and Saturday nights and will deliver a special talk to newsboys Saturday afternoon.
