Local railroad circles aro much stirred up over many rumored changes In railroad management and officials, which, it Is said, will take place In tho near future as a rosult of tho conference of mllroad heads being held In Salt Lake today Already tho first announcement has boen mado as a result of President Mohlor's presence here yo6terday The Utah division of the Union Pacific has been abolished and the division, which will be known as the Wyoming, Wyo-ming, will extend from Cheyenne to Ogden. William Jeffers, the present superintendent of the Utah division, will bo transferred to Cheyenne as tho superintendent of tho now Wyoming Wyo-ming division, and D. C. Olmstead, who for nearly six years was chief clork here In Ogdon," has been made assistant superintendent with headquarters head-quarters at Green River. This change was officially announced this morning and is to tako place at once. The new order has changed the Union Un-ion Pacific from threo divisions to two, the othor division extending from Cheyenne to Omaha, and it is ox-pocted ox-pocted that a considerable saving will bo effected. It Is reported on good authority, though no official confirmation could be obtained, that W. H. Bancroft vice president and general manager of the Oregon Short Line, will Yetiro in tho near future and be succeeded by W. R. Scott, formerly of Ogden, now general gen-eral manager of the Southern Pacific, whoso place will be fillod by J. M. Davis, at present gcnoral (superintendent (superin-tendent of the Southern Pacific. For the past six months the Harri-man Harri-man system has been contemplating putting on what Is known as a "train do luxo" between New York and San Francisco to compete with a similar train on tho Santa Fe. Steel Pullmans Pull-mans and other modern hlgh-grado equipment wore ordered a long time ago and is reportod to have been delivered de-livered November 15. It is rumored that this new train will be put in operation op-eration shortly. It will bo equipped with every modern convenience known and, as it Is expected to bo a short train, carrying a limited amount of baggage, will probably mako exceptional excep-tional time across tho continent. Just what will be done at tho meeting meet-ing between tho various officers In Snlt Lako today, or In fact, what Is tho cause of the meeting, cannot bo learned, as all that tho officials will say Is that thoy aro meeting to discuss dis-cuss train schedules.
