Show MEXICANS CAPJURED United States Troops Begin Their Work on the Border Douglas, Ariz., March 10. One hundred hun-dred and fitty 'Mexican refugees from this city wero surrounded hy American Amer-ican troops when they gathered' near the border last night. They were placed under arrest and are being held here. The Mexicans began to flock toward the border when the report reached here that a re"bel force appeared bo-fore bo-fore Agua prieta. It is believed that' they wero massed with the Intention In-tention of joining tho rebels in the event of an assault belrfg made on Agua Prieta. As soon as word was received that the rebel bands of Juan Cabral, "Red" Lopez and Bracamento were threatening threat-ening Agua Prieta, Captain Frank Johnson of Troop M of the Third cavalry cav-alry ordered the troop to the border. The cavalrymen spent the night riding the line between here and Auga Prieta The Mexican authorities at Agna Prieta issued orders that anyone crossing the line from tho north should be shot. Auga Prieta is not prepared to oppose op-pose a combined attack from Cabral and Blanco, which Is anticipated. Blanco's force is reported to be a few miles to the southwest and it Is believed that he and the force now bofore the city aro acting in concert. The city has only fifty troops, half of whom aro citizens. There are no machine guns. |
