Show uu PERJURY CHARGES AGAINSTJEO. COX CINCINNATI, Ohio, Feb. 27 A supplementary indictment uas returned return-ed by, the grand Juiy here today against Georgo B. Cox and like tho original, chaigos perjury. The second sec-ond includes tho accusations mado in the first, hut goes farthor, charging that Cox received ?17,500 from Tilden R. French, a foimer county Measurer, from "gratuities" gjvon the latter by banks, of Hamilton county In return for county deposits. The original Indictment charged Cox with testifying before the Hamilton county grand jury In 190C that lie had received none of the "gratuities" paid to the treasurers. It stated that in point of fact, Cox lcceivcd ?4S,500 from John D. Gibson, a former county treasurer. The supplementary Indictment Indict-ment today Includes this charge and also alleges Cox obtained $17,500 from French. The indictment was served on Mr. Cov late in tho daj- and he at onco went to the county prosecutor's office and gav0 $I,000V nail, bonds being signed by Le0 Hz Brooks, a banker Cox refused to make a statement. |
