Discredit Corral's Interview. MEXICO CITY, April 2S. "The statements attributed to Mr. Corral are so at variance with the facts and so inconceivable as originating from a person occupying the high and responsible re-sponsible office of vice president of a great nation holdimr friendly relations re-lations with the United States, that comment of a critical nature would be better reserved." In this manner Ambassador Wilson tonight commented on the Interview attributed to Vice President Corral in Santander, Spain, and printed in el Imparclal In diplomatic and official circles, the disposition to discredit the Interview was general, several expressing the same opinion as did the ambassador. Gomez at San Antonio. SAN ANTONIO. Texas, April 2S Dr Gomez, diplomatic ngent of tho Mexican revolutionists In the United States, stopped here tonight en route to El Paso, Toxas, hoping to confer with Senor Venustlano Carranza provisional governor of Coahulla, and one of the most prominent figures in the insurrection . Senor Carranza however, had gone to EI Paso and Dr. Gomez, therefore, continued on his journey. He will arrive at the Mndero Mn-dero camp tomorrow. Asked whether ho had received any advices from General Francisco I. Madero, Jr., naming him 'as the peace commissioner for the revolutionists, Dr. Gomez replied that he had not been so Informed. He said, however, that he received a message here urging urg-ing him to hasten to EI Paso. Those who havo followed closely tho events of tho revolution and the recent peace parleys, believe Dr. Gomez Go-mez will be tho peace representative of tho rebels. It is pointed out that ever since his conference with Senor de la Barra In Washington on March 2G, when the latter was preparing to leave for Mexico City to become minister of foreign affairs, the relations re-lations between the two men have been most cordial. The armistice proposals as well as tho procedure that Is now being followed fol-lowed with regard to peace negotiations, negotia-tions, were largely mapped out in messages that passpd between do la Barra in Mexico City and Gomez In Washington. Aside from his friendly relations with tho federal government, Dr. Gomez Go-mez enjoys the confidence of Francisco Fran-cisco I. Madero, Jr., as well as tho other rebel leaders. As a candidate for vice presideul on tho same ticket on which Madero ran for president in the last election, he has been regarded re-garded generally as tho principal figure fi-gure in Importance in the revolution next to Madero himself. Dr. Gomez Is traveling with Senor Pino Suarez provisional governor of Yucatann. Tho latter tonight declared that ho personally favored Dr. Gomez for peace commissioner, because he represented rep-resented the interests of the entire rovolution party. |
