Show GOVERNOR SAYS I k hi iiEUifini urn ST. LOUIS, July 4 Professional boxing was rehabilitated in this city today after Gov. Hadley had personally personal-ly assured himself that the law was not being violated by the Mozart club, under the auspices of which bouts in the Coliseum were scheduled. The visit of the governor, who was accompanied by the chief of detectives detec-tives and a police captain, was unexpected unex-pected and delayed for a few minutes the boxing program. On information supplied by the police officers, who told him their investigation disclosed no violation of the statute, Gov. Hadley Had-ley sanctioned the fights. These were all on a restricted scale, only club members being permitted to witness them. The number of rounds were limited to six, without a decision, deci-sion, and the fighters were paid a stipulated sum for their services. The governor declined an Invitation to wltnoss the fights. nn |
