Show HARBERTSON IS ALLRED'nWSTER Logan, July 5. With a parade a mile and one-half in length during the morning arid ending with a big wrestling wrest-ling match between Jack Harbertson of Ogden and Wallace Allred of Lew-iston, Lew-iston, the Fourth of July celebration here yesterday proved to be one of the most successful in the history of the city The imposing character of the parade, the costly floats and excellent excel-lent arrangement, were largely due to the efforts of the Commercial Boosters' Boost-ers' club, under the auspices of which the pageant features of the celebration celebra-tion were conducted. The parade formed at 9 o'clock and, led, by H. E. Hatch, president of the Commercial Boosters' club, marched march-ed through the principal streets of the city. It broke up at the tabernacle, taber-nacle, where F. K. Nebeker, a Salt Lake attorney, delivered the oration of the day. This was followed by a baseball game between teams from the northern north-ern and southern ends of the county. The Wellsvllle team represented the northern section of the county and the Richmond team the southern section. Wellsville won with a score of 11 to 3. A feature of the sports was the wrestling match between Harbertson and Allred. Harbertson won one fall after sixty-five minutes of hard work. The purse was for $400. Although All-red All-red was by far the stronger, Harbertson Har-bertson demonstrated his superiority as a wrestler to the satisfaction of all. An unpleasant feature of the day was a fire which destroyed the blacksmith black-smith shop of John Rozsa on South Main street. The loss was $1,500 and the property was covered by $600 Insurance. In-surance. The blaze was caused by a match having been thrown upon the floor of the shop, where gasoline had previously been spilled. Although the fire department was on the scene almost with the beginning of the blaze the members were kept busy protecting protect-ing the adjoining buildings. |
