Show AAA Elections To Be Held December 15 The week of December 15 has been designated for holding elections elec-tions of AAA community and county committeemen, Sidney J. - -Nebeker, Laketown, chairman of the Utah State Agricultural adjustment ad-justment administration committee, announced Saturday. , These elections, which in the past have been held in November, were post-poned this year so as not to interfere with the farm-to-farm canvass of the farm defense de-fense program. But now that the canvass is practically complete in every county of the state, dates can be set and plans made for the regular annual elections of AAA committeemen, Mr. Nebeker pointed point-ed out He said that qualifications for membership in the county agricultural agri-cultural associations and eligibility I to hold office hi 1942 are about the same as for 1941 except that this year to be a member of the county association a person must; be participating or cooperating in one or more programs administered adminis-tered under the AAA. And - a person per-son shall be a member of the association as-sociation until such time as it is determined that he will not qualify qual-ify for payment, conservation materials ma-terials or services under the AAA program. In the past merely indicating intention to participate in the program has been enough to qualify qual-ify a person as a member of the county association and thus make him eligible to hold office. This year the participation must be actual as indicated by payments earned benefits received under un-der provisions of the program. Since committeemen elected, de-, termine'policies and carry out provisions that affect all members mem-bers of the county association, it has been decided that only farmers far-mers or ranchers actually participating partic-ipating in the program should be eligible to hold office. Mr. Nebeker urged farmers and ranchers of the state who are in the farm program to see that they elect this year the best men tey can get. Notices' of elections in the in- 1 dividual communities will be posted post-ed later, he said. |
