Show Governor Maw Will Support Fish and Game SALT LAKE CITY Governor Herbert B. Maw Saturday afternoon after-noon told Utah Sportsmen gathered gather-ed at the capital that he he "favors "fa-vors a program of fish and game in the state that will be in harmony har-mony with what the sportsmen want.'' The sportsmen, more than 100 of them representing member clubs of the Utah Wild Life federation in all parts of Utah, met with the state's chief primarly to ask that Newell B. The delegation came armed with petitions bearing nearly 30,000 names, but on the subject of personnel per-sonnel changes in the department depart-ment the governor indicated they would not be made until after other state departments had been taken care of. I can't give you any idea on what personnel changes will be made in the game department under the reorganization program, the governor said, "because I feel other state offices need attention at-tention first. However, when I do get to this department I shall ask the council of sportsmen of the state," he said. The governor promised his support sup-port in the furthering wild life conservation. "You can count on me to do anything in my power to build this industry for it is an industry,'' he said. R. E. (Bob) Hebbeler, president of the Salt Lake County Fish and Game Association and one of the directors of the Utah Wild Life federation, acted chairman, explaining ex-plaining to the governor the purpose pur-pose of the state group and work accomplished by its members. |
