Show "MOTHER SIALL BESERVIOR TO BE INVESTIGATED Utah scored again Thursday in her small reservoir program, when a detailed report of project investigations in-vestigations conducted in Emery county was submitted to State Engineer En-gineer T. H. Humphry's for review re-view and suggestion. The investigation, made cooperatively cooper-atively by the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Utah Water Storage commission, brings the oial number of projects ready for approval to six, placing Utah out in front for a generous share of j the $3,500,000 apropiated under the Case-Wheeler act for small ressr-voir ressr-voir construction. No other state j has yet completed investigation of a single project. j The Emery report will include the anxiously awaited Miner's Flat and Joe's Valley projects. It will; be returned to the Bureau's chief ! engineer after review by the state engineer and E. G. Nielsen, engineer en-gineer in charge of Utah investigations investi-gations for the bureau. Details of the report will not j be made public prior to presents-iton presents-iton before the state water stor- j age commission. The report will then be forwarded to Reclamation Commissioner John C. Fage for final approval. The Newton project in Cache county has already received approval ap-proval and preliminary work has begun at the site. Other projects which are "ready to go" upon approval include the Mammoth project for Sanpete county, the Scofield project for Carbon county coun-ty and the diversion tunnel designed de-signed to bring any surplus water from the Price river water shed for use In Utah county. The Woodruff Wood-ruff project report for Rich county coun-ty Is complete, but is awaiting definite def-inite arrangements regarding water wa-ter rights. Preliminary Investigations by the state engineer, the water storage commission and the bureau during the last two years have placed this state in her present advantageous advan-tageous position in the small reservoir res-ervoir program. |
