Show sesithfield m$m CLUB TO PUaUSH -BULLETIN WEEKLY The Kiwanis Club in which we are Interested is the local unit of Kiwanis International, an organization organi-zation with over 207 6 simular clubs in as many comunities of Canada and the United States. Kiwanis is based upon the principles of service. It capitaliz-l es lor constructive comunity ser-' vice the fellowship of a group of! men who meet and eat together once a week. It develops friend-' ship and encourages leadership.' It seeks to build better communi-, ty through intelligent interest and active unselfish loyalty. I The club voted unanimously to' have a bulletin once a week to be' pirated by the Siniilu'iuld Sentinel, and be sent out to the club mem-' bers CCiCh Tuesday. The purpose of the bulletin is many f ..Id. Some are Kiwanis educative, Informing club members ot programs, im-; poriaat iuippeninge. and meetings,: remind and refresh upon their! minds activities of the club that are in progress and new activ.tes. ' uy doing this we "nope to make 1 the Smiihfichl Kiwanis Club aj better and more interesting club and one "that will find ways to; render the community a better; service. Don't forget the Presidents request re-quest for a committee meeting to be held during the month and a report of the meeting turned ' in to the secretary. The meeting was held on January Jan-uary 16, 1941, with Major Blair the U. S. A. C. Military Advisor giving a talk on, "A little bit of American History that is not taught in schools", and was very interesting. 1 beleive most of the boy's present aro wondering why Paul Revere did'nt ride to Lexington Lex-ington as the books tell us, and also why we did'nt hear more a-bout a-bout air the other tea parties the forefathers had. Well anywhy the Major kinda opened our eyes to a little of what we did not read about while going to school. Dr. Douglas H. Gregory was in-iated in-iated into the club. Presentation of the Kiwanis button was made by past president H. O. Van Ord-en Ord-en The program included two songs by Louis McCann assisted at the piano by Miss Venna Michaels Mich-aels " Bells Of. .The Sea" and One Fleeting Hour'-. A report was given by H. 0. Van Orden of the Associated Civics Clubs meeting meet-ing held at Brigham City. C. W. Clark and G. L. Rees were asked to make a report on some changes chang-es the Utah Traffic Council would make in our present traffic laws and regulations. |
