Show Commissions Available In U. S. Army Another opportunity for young , men to earn commissions in the United States armed forces was extended to Utah state Agricultural Agricul-tural college students Tuesday when a naval examining board conducted examinations on the campus for positions in the U. S. , Naval Air force and naval engin- j eering field. The examining board was headed head-ed by Lieutenant Commander C. I C. Troensegarre, Medical Corps, I U.S.N. R and Chief Pharmcis! I Mate C. D. Peterson. All are located lo-cated at 12th Naval District headquarters head-quarters in San Francisco. With examinations not quite completed. Commander Walter reported re-ported that 54 students had applied appli-ed for and taken the examination and that a compaaratively large percentage of them had passed. Some of 'the general requirements which the applicants had to meet included; a male citizen of the United States for at least ten years; an age of not less than 20 years and not more than 27 years; be .unmarried; be willing to remain in active duty for four years; and have a minimum edu. cation of two full years of college A new feature of naval training train-ing which Commander Walter stressed was the opportunity for engineering students to obtain a commission aand at the same time complete their college education. Under this plan ' juniors will be raised in rank to ensigns Specialists Special-ists and will be taken into active act-ive service as soon as the graduate. |
