Show Flyer is Reported Missing Memorial Set for Another Lieutenant Nathan Dopp Lost Over Romania; , Grant E. Larsen Will Be Honored Sunday ' '' I , ' " r I ' ' t j P F C GRANT E. LARSON . . . will be honored at Memorial Me-morial services. I Cache county's casualty list was increased this week as one Logan Lo-gan flyer was reported missing in a raid over Romania while memorial memor-ial services were arranged for another who 'gave his life in France. They are: Lieutenant Nathan Dopp, 28, husband of Mrs. Charlotte Thain Dopp, reported missing in action August 16th following a bombing raid over ( Romania. Private First Class Grant E. Larson, 27, killed July 26 in France, memorial services will be conducted Sunday at 8 p. m. in the Nibley ward chapel. Lieutenant Dopp, pilot of a B-24 Liberator (bomber, was reported re-ported missing just one month after he Ipnded in Italy on his seventh combat mission, according to word received from the war department. He was born May 7, 1916 in Lewiston, a son of the late Elmer and Rhoda Olsen Dopp and was educated in Logan schools. He graduated from Logan senior high school and completed three years at Utah State Agricultural college. col-lege. He took his first flight training train-ing at the Logan-Cache airport. He worked several years at the Bluebird and then joined the staff of the Logan postoffice before be-fore entering the air corps in February, 1943. He trained at Emporia, Kansas; Saxton, Mo., San Antonio, Texas, and Winfield, Kansas, receiving his commission March 12, 1944 at Blackland Field, Texas. Lieutenant Dopp's transitional work was completed at the El Paso, Texas air field, and he sailed for overseas service June 28, arriving in Italy July 16. The last loiter received by his ' wife 'was dated August 16. Awaiting further word are his wife, who lives with her sister, Mrs. Ervin Wursten at 116 North I Fifth West; his mother, Mrs. Rhoda Dopp Neeley, who lives in Idaho Falls, Idaho; his sister, and two ! brothers, Seaman First Class Gar-I Gar-I eth Dopp, on sea duty with the navy, and Donald Dopp, a civilian civil-ian employe in the Aleutian islands. Memorial services for FFC Larson, Lar-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma j O. Larson of Nibley, will be I conducted Sunday at 8 p. m. in j the Nibley ward chapel. He "was killed July 26, on his I 27th birthday, in action in France J and was the first of Nibley's 51 ! service men to lose his life in j battle. I He was born July 26, 1917 in Nibley, a son of Alma O. and j May Baker Larson. He graduated I from South Cache high school and 1 was inducted into the army No-! No-! vember 15, 1942. He was assigned overseas last May. Survivors include his parents; four brothers and five sisters: Lavon A. and Marnus O. Larson, Los Angeles, Cal.; Ladell M. Lar! son, Hagerman, Idaho; Loyal S. Larson, training with the Seabees at Camp Peary, Va.; Mrs. Violet Adams, Kanab; Mrs. La Faye Sorensen, Smithfield; Mrs. Rachel Brady, Coeur d-Alene, IdaRo and Alice and Mildred Larson, Nibley. |
