Show USAC Horse Show Draws Large Crowd Spectators included horse lovers from all parts of Utah and from :Soiii'.hern Idaho. Starting the activities was the cow milking contest, which was -won for the second time by Elvida J3orenson of Logan. j Another feature of (this year's show was the work of "King," a! ."Scotch collie dog owned by Wynn S. Hansen of Colliston, who demonstrated de-monstrated cutting, herding and 3oading sheep. Other results: Saddle bred 'horses, three gaited: Black Garnet, Gar-net, owned by H. A. Sorenson of Salt Lake City, awarded Draper Poultry association trophy, gtock horses: Brown Derby, owned by 'George R. Jesson of Logan, :awarded Peck Brothers trophy. -Saddle horses, .five gaited open: Edgemont Sun, owned by H. A. Sorenson of Salt Lake City, .awarded Amalgamated Sugar trophy. Ladies and gentlemen's Tairs; Ned and Mormon Man, owned by H. A. Lundahl of Logan .awarded Deseret News trophy; Junior combination class, three and four year olds: Love Letter, Let-ter, owned by O. H. Nelson of 1 XOg-an, awarded Levens Clothiers trophy. Two preliminary events,- remount re-mount and model stallion, also -were held in the afternoon. In the remount class the Read Brothers trophy was awarded Prince, owned own-ed by Keith LcishmarL of Wells--ville. U-Dand, l"'?by Mrs. Arthur Wooley " of Ogden, was awarded first place in the model tallion division. Firat of the events in the eve- ..i-z show, heU in the ? Hge field house, was the " futurity saddle-bred class, embracing yearlings, year-lings, 2-year-olds and 3-year-ol-ds. Winner of the yearling class was Meadow Chief, owned by Dr. C. J. Daines of Logan. In the 2--year old division, J. S. Glave-hrook's Glave-hrook's Wasatch U emerged the -winner. T.nsB Letter, owned by O. H- Kelson of Logan, was winner of the 3-year-old division. Wasatch 17 was named champion of ithe j entire futurity saddle-bred class, and was awarded the Salt Lake Union stockyards trophy. Moby Dick, owned by Ezra Lun 1 dahl of Logan and ridden by Cordell Lundahl of Logan, was victorious in the jumpers' open class, thus winning the Fred M. Abbott trophy. Judge of all show events was Herbert Howarth of Englewood, Colo., and Professor George B.j Came was ringmaster. j In the ladies' saddle-bred three j gaited division, the Salt Lake Stamp company trophy went to Belle of Edgemont, whose owner is H. A. Sorensen of Salt Lake City. Belle of Edgemont was ridden rid-den bv Helen Vent, also of Salt Lake City. Dena Dixs Bugler won first place in the road hacks, open event for thoroughbred horses. Bugler was awarded the Jimmie Dunn trophy. In the novice five-gaited class first place went to Chico Prince, whose owner is Myron Fox of Salt Lake City. In the ladles' western pleasure iinr class. Pal, owned by the Wills Motor company, won the Olof Nelson trophy and first place. Bugler owned by Dena Dix of Salt Lake City, won the Hunters open and a trophy. Winner in the fine harness class was. Love Letter Ned, owned by A. J. Lundahl and ridden by Alma Lundahl Junior of Logan, and was awarded first P'ace in the Cache Valley pleasure horse class. Napoleon, prize jumping horse, owned by Ezra Lundahl of Logan, Lo-gan, in a triple bar jumping demonstration, brought out thunderous thun-derous rounds of applause from the large crowd. Winner of the sorority riding contest and the Budgo Clinic trophy was Alpha Ch. Omega sorority so-rority The team was composed of Janet Young of Washington, T) C; Elsie Stlllman of Fort Mills. R. I.; Marge Caine of Richmond and Deon Hatch of Vernal. Chi Omega was awarded second place. |
