Show LOCALS Word has reached local relatives j of Vernett Patterson, inducted : into army service a few months! ago, that he had had one of his legs amputated at an army hospital hos-pital in Oklahoma. Mrs. S. Amter of Los Angeles, California Visited here the fore part of the week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. I. Altman. She left Thursday for Colorado where she will visit for some time with relative and friends. Pfc. Clifton B. James is returning return-ing this Thursday to Camp Lockett, California after spending a 15-day 15-day furlough visiting with relatives rela-tives and friends. Clif ranks high in the technician service of the partially mechanized 11th Cavalry and came to Milford on his return from Kansas Citt, to which place he had driven his colonel's wife and daughter in the former's car. The American Legion social was held Monday. May 18 at the home of Mrs. Christie Lyman, with Mrs. Lyman, Mrs. Garlic Waddoups and Mrs. Dora Smith-son Smith-son acting as hostess. Bridge was enjoyed with Mrs. Ethel Smith winning the high honors prize and Mrs. Magdalina White the high points prize, whlile Mary Williams won the consolation prize and Lila Weber the traveling prize. Others present were Mrs. Nina Bingham, Mrs. Naomi Hughes, Mrs. Ethel Nielsen, Mrs. Beth LaBarron, Mrs. Bernice Smith, Mrs. Edith Grim-shaw, Grim-shaw, Mrs. Alice Jane Bowen and Mrs. Virginia Uren. A delicious luncheon was served, after which a short business meeting was held. |
