Show United States' Bad Lands. This is the translation of "Mauvnises Terres," the term used by the French-Canadian French-Canadian trappers to describe tbesa regions of unconsolidated rocks that have been extensively eroded. Had lands occur on arid plateaus formed by horizontal strata of loosely cemented sands and gravels. The best examples of such regions are found In the upper portion of the Missouri drainage basin, in the vicinity of the Pluck hills. Some are to lie found also in Colorado, Arizona, Ari-zona, New Mexico and Texas. |
