Show THE NEW CABINET There will be a general approval 'of the people in some of the choice-made choice-made by President Harding for the members of his cabinet. Particularly Particular-ly is this true of Charles E. Hughes and Herbert Hoover, both of whom are men of the highest repute and of whom much may be expected. The appointment of Mr. Hoover, as secretary of commerce willbpar-ticularly willbpar-ticularly pleasing to Californians. although many of us had hoped that he would be made secretary of the interior, a position in which the West is greatly interested and a position ' which has been honored in recent years by another splendid Califor- ; nian, Franklin K. Lane. But it is gratifying to know thai. Mr. Hoover is to be in the cabinet at all. First, of course, becausie people peo-ple believe Mr. Hoover to be conspicuously conspi-cuously the type of man who ought to be in the government to work out ; his high and practical ideas of ser- vice. It is particularly gratifying be-i be-i cause it disposes of the fear that air. Harding might not have a mind oi i his (.'.v;i a:. 1 ihe r(,ur:r-'- to stand --;eiM.-; ;'er his hnia-st judgment.
