Show FARM BUREAU PROGRAM Following is a statement of the Annual program of work which the county farm bureau and county agricultural agri-cultural agent are trying to put over in the form of projects this year. Irrigation Improvement To install in-stall weirs and distributing devices for equitable distribution of the waters wa-ters of North creek to water users on that stream. To construct canals to save seepage losses and prevent complication com-plication in distribution and to build reservoir an Blue lake in mountains to store and hold back some of the spring high waters for the period of shortage. Increase Grain Production To demonstrate practical ways of increasing in-creasing county's grain supply for livestock feeds, by planting more barley, bar-ley, planting fall wheat that can be made by high spring water, planting plant-ing some of the dry lands to corn to be pastured by stock and by building more silos to supplement alfalfa hay in feeding beef and thereby reduce the cost of imported corn at present used for"feeding beef. Potato Seed Improvement To demonstrate practical ways to keep high yielding seed potatoes of pure varieties. And If possible encourage the growing of certified seed potatoes, for the sections of Utah that are unable un-able to grow their own seed because of seasonal conditions. Celery Production Encourage the growing of celery on our black loam soils after our successful demonstration demonstra-tion of last year. Organize Jersey Bull Association To get cooperation in improving dairy dai-ry herds at the least cost. Summer Uasture for Beef and Veal To demonstrate the value of our grass and clover pastures for making beef and veal instead of cutting cut-ting it for hay. Farm Sheep Production Organize farmers having farm sheep to encourage en-courage sheep of good quality and one breed; to pool wool and lambs for market; to cooperate in dipping shearing and getting summer herd on Forest reserve. Feeder Hog Production To encourage en-courage raising of feeder and serum hogs on dairy by-products and pasture pas-ture crops. To sell cooperatively In September. Poultry and Turkey Production To encourage increase number of laying lay-ing hens and turkeys in county; give culling demonstrations to eliminate unprofitable hens; and instruct in the housing and feeding. Boys' and Girls' Ciiib Work Encourage En-courage boys and girls club work by organizing them into smsll clubs with a leader and project to work out. Soil Fertility Demonstration To increase soil fertility and crop yields by use of barnyard manure. , Clean-Home, Clean-Town Contest State plan will be followed. Beaver County Fair Have a county coun-ty fair in September to show best ag rteultural efforts, advertise counts resources', and to encourage better di velopment of them. |
