CELEBRATE THEIR SIXTIETH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Johnson celebrated cele-brated their 60th wedding anniversary November 11th, at their home in Adamsville, with a family dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are the parents of Jo. Johnson of Salt Lake City, a former resident of Beaver. CARD PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Presley Whornham entertained at a card party Saturday Satur-day evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Whornham's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hurst. A turkey supper was served at 8 o'clock. Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing ideas were carried out in the place cards and favors. Thirty-one guests were present and a delightful evening was spent playing progressive progress-ive five-hundred. Mrs. Walter Joseph won ladies high score, and Dr. E. A. Petty, gents high score. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. Kenneth Barton and Mr. M- O. Poulson. PEARCE-SPEILDOCK Miss Virginia Pearce, eldest daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Lottie Pearce, was married mar-ried at Chicago, 111., November 6th to Mr. Dave Speildock, son of Mrs. Dave Speildock of Los Angeles. The bride is one of Beaver's talented young girls. She is a graduate of the high school and Murdock Academy, Acad-emy, after which she attended the University of Utah two years and rtnlr a VincinpRQ rmirsfl at Henatrer's Business college. Since their marriage, mar-riage, the young people have been traveling out of Chicago to several large cities and points of interest. The groom is a decorator and traveling travel-ing salesman for a big paint company com-pany in Chicago, where they will make their home. The Press joins their many friends in wishing them a happy married life. ANNUAL CARD PARTY GIVEN BY LADIES AUXILIARY The Ladies Auxiliary of the Ameri--an Lrg'ion' ent-.rtained at their annual an-nual card party Thursday night of aat week at the Library auditorium. The American Legion boys and their sweethearts were the guests. The room was decorated in the colors - '-d emblems of the Legion. Nine tables were arranged for T.'rotrressive five-hundred. Ladies first prize was won by Mrs. Beauprc Newors. Guests first prize by John Ashworth. Second prizes were won by Mrs. Arnold Parkinson and Bernard Bern-ard Baldwin. Delicious refreshment! were served at midnight. Dr. and Mrs. Addison Bybee en tertained the Robinsons and Miss Franke from the dam at a Thanksgiving Thanks-giving dinner, Mrs- George Pake was the hostess at a quilting party for Mrs. Leonard Paice. The guests were friends and neighbors and all had a delighful time visiting and quilting. Refreshments were served. Mr, and Mrs. Gilbert Hutchings came from Annebelle on Thursday of last week and spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Paice. Belknap Rebekah Lodge No. 17, gave a card party at the I. O- O. F. hall, Tuesday evening. The first of a series of parties to be given by the lodge this winter. A fine crowd was present to enjoy the evening. The hall was gaily decorated with bunting, bunt-ing, colored paper and Japenese lanterns. A merry time was spent playing progressive five hundred. Mrs. Elizabeth Neilsen won ladies first prize. Dr. I. J. Hopkins, gents. The consolation prizes were given to Mr. and Mrs. Venes Bakes. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served at 11 o'clock. Miss Jennie Fotheringham left Saturday Sat-urday for Monterey, California, where she will spend the ('winter. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Murdock and: daughter, Merlyn, came from Salt Lake Cty Thursday of last week and will spend the winter in Beaver. Mrs. Joseph R. Murdock returned Thursday evening of last week from Salt Lake City, where she visited her sister, Mrs. Ernest Hodges for a few days. Ab Patterson and family of South Milford, spent Sunday here with Mr. Patterson's mother, Mrs. Nephi Williams. Wil-liams. Miss La Verne Carlow entertained the "So" club at her home Wednesday Wednes-day evening of last week. The evening even-ing was spent in sewing and playing cards, after which a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to Miss Roma Robinson, Robin-son, Miss Crista Patterson, Miss ! Metta Thompson, Miss Nola Gillies and Miss Wanda Pearce. Mr. and Mrs. Brownhill called upon the Robinsons and Miss Franke at Rocky Ford Monday on the way to the train, continuing their trip towards to-wards Colorado and Texas. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ross and daughters daugh-ters Flo, and Ula, and Miss Anna Og-den Og-den of Richfield, were the guests of Bishop and Mrs. Wesley Farrer Sunday, Sun-day, November 14th. Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Robinson and Miss Kendall Franke of Rocky Ford, motored up Sunday afternoon for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Brownhill at the Carlton home. John A. Young of Cedar City spent the week end here last week in the interests of Boy Scout work. Several meetings were held. He delivered a patriotic address at Milford on Armistice Arm-istice Day, Mr. and Mrs. George Doolittle of Cedar City passed through here Wednesday enroute to Salt Lake City where they will spend Thanksgiving Thanks-giving with their daughter, Miss ' Dixie Doolittle and Miss Helen Smith, move is significant and marks another an-other epic of dairying in Iron County. |
