Show J. C. PENNY COMPANY BUYING STOCK FOR NEXT SPRING The New York Times contains the following: "Not only has the J. C. Penney Company, Inc., placed all of its advance ad-vance business for fall, but Its buyers buy-ers have already contracted for several sev-eral million dollars' worth of goods for delivery next spring. The company com-pany operates a chain of 371 retail dry goods stores throughout the country. Some Idea of the size of the company's purchases for the coming spring season may be gathered from the fact that 1,000 cases of one number num-ber of men's ribbed underwear alone are included in the goods bought so far. Large quantities of spring hosiery hos-iery and ginghams have also been bought to' date, and other lines are being worked on as well. So large have been the company's purchases of women's ready-to-wear garments for fall that $50, 000 worth of this merchandise is now being shipped daily from this city to tho stores in the chain. Shipments of similar size will continue each day for some time to come. |
