Show MADE PAJAMAS FOR WOUNDED Prominent Women of Hawaii, Under Supervision of Mrs. Dorothy B. Harper, Aided Veterans. "Aloha from Hawaii," was the message mes-sage a number of wounded war vet- y !- Vs. erans in American hospitals found written on slips of paper tucked in pockets of gay colored pajamas which were handed hand-ed out to them by members of the American Legion auxiliary. The pajamas had been made by American wo men u n a e r tne palm trees during the long hot tropical afternoons. The women who worked included such loyal citizens of the United States as the wife of the governor gov-ernor of Hawaii, the wife of the admiral ad-miral of the U. S. fleet stationed there, and the wife of the commandant of the Marine barrack9. The work was done under the supervision super-vision of Mrs. Dorothy B. Harper, president pres-ident of the American Legion auxiliary In Hawaii, and also a member of the American Legion, by virtue of her work for the U. S. marines during the war. She lives at Hilo. The pajamas from Hawaii were first sent In response re-sponse to an appeal from auxiliary workers at the hospital at Camp Logan, Lo-gan, Tex. |
