Show STOCKHOLDERS NUMEROT1 The Union Pacific system of rail roads has 51,016 stockholders, according ac-cording to a statement Issued today by C. R. Gray, president. Approximately Approxi-mately 43 per cent of the stockholders stockhold-ers are women and most of the stockholders stock-holders are presons of moderate means, says Mr. Gray. The average holdings, according to the statement, is 63 shares of a par value of $100 each. No one person, firm, corporation corpora-tion or Institution owns as much as two per cent of the capital stock, the statement adds. Stockholders reside re-side in every state in the Union and in Alaska, Canal Zone, Guam, Haw-ail, Haw-ail, Philippine Islands. "Thus," says Mr. Gray, "Union Pacific stock, like a country's trade, follows the flag. This widespread distribution conclusively conclu-sively answeres the statement that the railroads are owned and controlled control-led by a few persons. To an extent not generally recognized, the railway systems are owned by the public. This subject comes home to every household when it is considered that life insurance policy holders and saving sav-ing bank depositors are partners in the operation and development of our railways." |
