Show Drillers Show Faith In Well; Entitled to Milford's Support A representative of the News visited vis-ited the Walter James No. 1 prospective pros-pective oil well Wednesday last and found Mr. Engel, Mr. Kaminska and his two sons busy at the drill. Mr. Engel states they have been under-reaming under-reaming for some time past, but will be through with this when seven or eight feet more is completed. This work, he states, is very slow, requiring re-quiring great care not to do damage to the equipment. Once this work is completed and the casing set in rock and, perchance, all water cemented ce-mented off they will be in shape to make good progress. They are all very enthusiastic as to prospects for a good oil showing within the next fifty or seventy-five feet at the outside. Mr. Kaminska is very sanguine in his statement that oil will soon be reached . and has had, thus far, no reason to doubt that his finding with his instrument in-strument is absolutely correct. These men are backing their opinion opin-ion and convictions with long hard hours of work; taking most of their wages out in stock in the company. When any man or set of men will voluntarily back their opinion, findings find-ings and convictions with weeks and months of hard work they must be given credit for being honest and sincere in their decisions. It was just such men as these: "Who braved the desert when the great red west was young, Whose deeds are still unwritten, seldom sel-dom told and seldom sung." Should these men's efforts result in the discovery of oil in commercial quantities all Southwestern Utah and Milford especially, will profit thereby. The people of this community commu-nity will owe them a debt of gratitude grati-tude they can never repay. Duty, public welfare and possible personal profit would all suggest that the citizens of Beaver county and Milford in particular get behind an intensive stock subscription campaign cam-paign that these people may have the financial as well as moral support sup-port they so righly deserve. Let us adopt Chicago's motto: "I will." |
